Coil Removal
£130
At Midland Health, you can get your IUs or IUD removed by one of our expert GPs at any time. It is important to remember that if you are not having another device put it, it is possible to get pregnant as soon as the removal has taken place. A full consultation to discuss your options (also see family planning) may be helpful to make the decision that is right for you.
There are two types of coil removals: simple and complex. With the simple coil removals, the end of the coil is still accessible to be grasped and taken out. This will allow the patient to go home the same day. In the case of a complex coil removal, the end of the coil thread can no longer be reached. We will then have to take further measures in order to ensure that the process will go as smoothly as possible.
Most of the time, the GP will be able to grasp the ending threads of the IUD with forceps. This way, the arms of the implant will shift and the IUD will come out easily. Most women only feel a small discomfort.
During your appointment, you will be consulted by an expert trained GP that will perform the coil removal. Our GPs have years of experience and knowledge in this area, so you won’t have to worry about an unprofessional job. We ensure that our patients feel safe throughout the whole consultation.
Your consultations with us are strictly confidential as we do not share your medical records with anyone. Simply book a consultation to discuss your coil removal options at our clinic in Birmingham. We provide a safe environment to discuss what is concerning you and our friendly GPs will be happy to offer the best health advice that you need.

If you are any treatment that lowers your immune system or receiving chemotherapy then you will not be able to have the injection.
Caution is also required in diabetics and those with high blood pressure.
If you have received recent treatment for TB or are taking other immune supressing medication then you may not be able to have the injection. It’s always important to tell the doctor your full medical history as bowel, kidney and bone disorders may mean you cannot have the injection.
