At our private clinic in Edgbaston, Birmingham, we understand how debilitating a migraine and a complex headache can be. That’s why we offer fast, compassionate access to our migraine specialist, without the need for a GP referral. With same-day or next-day appointments available, we’re here to help you take the first step toward lasting relief when you need it most.
If you’re unsure whether to seek specialist care, you’re not alone. Many people live with a recurring headache for years without a clear diagnosis or effective treatment. But you don’t have to.
You should consider booking an appointment if:
Your headache is frequent, severe, or getting worse
Over-the-counter medications are no longer helping
You’re unsure whether your symptoms are migraine-related
Your headache is affecting your daily life, work, or well-being
You’ve tried multiple treatments but found little or no relief
Seeing a specialist can make a significant difference. With the right diagnosis and a personalised treatment plan, many patients find not just symptom relief, but renewed control over their lives.
Our team is here to help you take that first step.
Living with a persistent headache or migraine can be physically exhausting, emotionally draining, and deeply disruptive to everyday life. We offer a dedicated headache and migraine service for those who are struggling to find lasting relief.
Our service provides expert, evidence-based care in a calm and supportive environment. With years of experience managing complex headache disorders, Dr Kyprianou tailors every treatment plan to the individual, because no two patients experience migraine in the same way.
Our clinic specialises in diagnosing and treating a full spectrum of headache conditions, including chronic migraine, tension-type headache, cluster headache, occipital neuralgia, and medication-overuse headache. We combine clinical expertise with a holistic approach to care, offering:
Botox® for Chronic Migraine
Approved specifically for chronic migraine, Botox can significantly reduce the number and severity of headache days. It’s typically recommended for patients with 15 or more headache days per month.
Greater Occipital Nerve (GON) Block
This targeted injection delivers relief by calming the inflamed nerves at the back of the head, ideal for certain types of migraine, occipital neuralgia, and cluster headache.
CGRP Monoclonal Antibody Infusions
One of the latest breakthroughs in migraine care, CGRP inhibitors are preventive treatments that target the pathways involved in migraine attacks. These infusions are often life-changing for those with medication-resistant symptoms.
Medication Review and Optimisation
Many patients we see are taking medications that are either ineffective or making things worse. We take a fresh look at what you’re using and create a safer, more effective plan.
Lifestyle and Trigger Management
migraine don’t just come from inside the body, they’re often triggered by stress, sleep patterns, diet, and hormonal changes. We work with you to identify and manage your personal triggers with practical, achievable strategies.
Whether you’ve lived with a headache for years or are only beginning to understand your symptoms, we’re here to listen, support, and help you move forward with clarity and confidence.
A headache and/or migraine is not just painful; they can be unpredictable, isolating, and deeply disruptive to everyday life. Our clinic is here to provide expert help for a wide range of headache disorders, especially those that are persistent, complex, or difficult to diagnose.
We support patients living with:
A Chronic Migraine: Frequent, disabling headache often accompanied by nausea, sensitivity to light, and other symptoms
A Cluster Headache: Sudden, intense pain attacks typically affecting one side of the head or around the eye
A Tension-Type Headache: Common but often misunderstood, these cause persistent pressure or tightness
Medication Overuse Headache: Aheadache that worsens due to frequent pain relief medications
A Post-Traumatic Headache: Aheadache following head injuries, which can persist long after the initial trauma
Occipital Neuralgia: Sharp, stabbing pains caused by irritated nerves in the back of the head or neck
Trigeminal Autonomic Cephalalgias (TACs): Rare but severe headache syndromes that require specialist care
Whether your symptoms are daily or episodic, familiar or difficult to describe, we’re here to help uncover the cause and guide you toward effective, lasting relief.
With us, you receive more than just treatment. You will receive care that’s tailored to you. Every consultation begins with a detailed assessment to understand your symptoms, history, and lifestyle. From there, we build a personalised plan using the most up-to-date, evidence-based options available.
Our care is rooted in specialist knowledge, compassion, and a deep understanding of how complex these conditions can be. We’re here to offer clarity, structure, and support, and to help you take control of your health again.

The best specialist for migraine is one with advanced training and experience in neurology or headache medicine. At our clinic, consultations are led by Dr Katy Kyprianou, a GP with a specialist interest in neurology and postgraduate training from University College London. Her work focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of complex migraine and chronic headache, making her ideally placed to support patients who need expert, tailored care.
A migraine is a long-term neurological condition, and while there is no known cure, they can be effectively managed in most people. With the right diagnosis, treatment plan, and lifestyle adjustments, many patients experience significant reductions in the frequency, severity, and impact of their migraine. Our goal is to help you take control and improve your quality of life, even if the condition itself is ongoing.
One of the most promising new treatments for migraine now available in the UK, including through the NHS, is CGRP monoclonal antibody therapy. This treatment targets the calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) pathway, which plays a key role in migraine attacks. It’s especially effective for people with chronic or treatment-resistant migraine. We offer this advanced therapy privately at our clinic, with no waiting list or referral required.
The ‘5 C's of migraine’ is not a widely used clinical term, but it is sometimes used to help people understand both common features and part of the prodromal phase of a migraine; in other words, craving these foods could mean a migraine is due to attack. These can include:
Changes (in routine, sleep, hormones)
Caffeine (withdrawal or overuse)
Chocolate (a common dietary craving in the prodromal phase)
Cheese (especially cravings of aged varieties in the prodromal)
Citrus (another potential dietary craving in the prodromal phase)
It's important to remember that migraine triggers vary greatly between individuals. We work with you to identify your personal triggers and build a treatment plan that includes practical, evidence-based advice to manage them.
Yes, during your initial consultation, the specialist will review your suitability for treatment and discuss the consent process with you. If it's clinically appropriate, treatment can be administered during the same appointment.
Yes, if medication is recommended, our specialist can issue an electronic prescription through our partnered online pharmacy. This is included as part of your consultation; however, please note that medication costs are separate and must be paid directly to the pharmacy.
We have translators available for your appointment.
Midland Health has partnered with a highly reputable online pharmacy provider, Cloud Rx to ensure you receive your prescriptions directly to your home address as a next-day service. This way, you can be sure the medicine is available and delivered directly to your home or nominated address. No need for paper prescriptions or to have to go to multiple pharmacies to find the medicine that has been issued by our Midland Health doctors to you.
