Mummy MOT is an essential health exam for all women who have given birth and are experiencing postnatal problems, such as pelvic floor weakness, lower back pain, constipation or pain during sex. None of these issues are “normal” so you shouldn’t feel like you have to learn to live with them. Midland Health’s women’s physiotherapist, Charlotte Owen, can help.
Charlotte, our consulting post-natal physiotherapy expert, will perform your Mummy MOT at our private clinic based in Birmingham where you can enjoy excellent care and state-of-the-art facilities. You will be treated with compassion, respect and professionalism to ensure you feel comfortable and you can get back to your normal self as quickly as possible.
We know how important it is to get treatment early, so we offer appointments on short notice which means that you can be seen by a specialist immediately. Simply give the Midland Health team a call on 0121 769 0999 and book your Mummy MOT today.
The Mummy MOT service is available for women as soon as six weeks after delivering a baby but you can come to our private clinic in Edgbaston Village, even if it’s been years since you last gave birth. Speak to our post-natal physiotherapy specialist in Birmingham if you are suffering from any of the symptoms below:
The Mummy MOT is a full postnatal assessment that lasts up to 1 hour. It includes a full postural screen and a pelvic floor muscle assessment. Your physiotherapist will also check your abdominal muscles for separation and will examine you for bladder and sexual dysfunction.
At the start of your Mummy MOT, you will have a discussion about your postnatal mental and physical wellbeing. Then you will be asked to do some light exercises (squats, lunges, etc) in your underwear only so your specialist can observe your posture and body movement.
Following this, you will undergo a physical pelvic examination to screen for any issues with the pelvic floor function and muscle strength.
If you feel uncomfortable with any part of your Mummy MOT, please do not hesitate to let your physio know and they will find the best way to assess your condition while ensuring you feel comfortable.
After your Mummy MOT, you will be given a comprehensive report of your results and you will be assigned a bespoke rehabilitation programme tailored to your specific needs.
The benefits of a Mummy MOT are well known across Europe. In France, for example, every mum undergoes a postnatal check-up six weeks after giving birth, followed by a special rehabilitation plan to ensure that women don’t have to suffer childbirth-related health problems needlessly.
With the help of a Mummy MOT, you will be able to enjoy day-to-day activities with your kids without having to worry about pain or embarrassing leaks. Our private service is confidential and professional, so you can comfortably talk about health topics that are otherwise considered taboo and get the support you need.
Don’t let postnatal pain and muscle weakness affect your life - book an appointment for a Mummy MOT, so you can enjoy spending time with your family worry-free.
At Midland Health, we make sure that all mums get the excellent health care they deserve. Our team is professional, caring and non-judgemental. We are here to make you feel comfortable and help you get rid of the postnatal problems affecting your daily life.
If you are looking to get a Mummy MOT done and you are based in Birmingham or the wider Midlands, contact Midland Health as soon as possible to book your post-natal assessment.
