Approximately 1 in 8 women in the UK will develop breast cancer during their lifetime. Women between the age of 50 and 69 are at the greatest risk; accounting for 50% of all diagnoses made. The sooner breast cancer can be detected, the higher the chances of successful treatment and recovery. Attending regular breast screenings is important if you fall into this high-risk group, however, may be a good idea regardless of age or gender, if you have reason to be concerned.

Finding a lump may feel like the end of the world, but with Midland Health, we provide friendly advice and support to help you through all stages of care. Consultation with a GP may involve a physical examination and discussion regarding risk factors and symptoms. You may be referred for a screening x-ray or biopsy of any potential lumps if necessary. Our experienced GP’s understand how anxiety-provoking this process can be, so, endeavour to be sensitive to your needs whilst providing fast and efficient care.

We also offer BRCA 1 and 2 genetic testing and a genetic test that covers up to 30 different cancer genes. Please book in for a consultation with one of our friendly Midland Health GPs who can advise you on this testing.

Family History of Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Service:

With 1 in 7 women in the UK being diagnosed with breast cancer throughout their lifetime, breast cancer accounts for 15% of all cancers, making it the most common cancer in the country. Early diagnosis has been shown to improve survival rates, so consulting with a specialist, especially if you have a family history of breast cancer, is advised. Find out more about our Breast Cancer Risk Assessment here.
