As a parent, seeing your child struggle with emotional or mental health challenges can be incredibly difficult and overwhelming. Our private Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist is here to support both you and your child during this critical time. Specialising in understanding the unique needs of young people, our psychiatrist works to create a tailored plan that addresses not only the behaviours and emotions your child is experiencing but also the underlying factors contributing to their struggles.
Whether it's diagnosing anxiety, depression, ADHD, or another mental health concern, the goal is to help your child thrive—emotionally, socially, and academically. Working closely with families, educators, and other professionals, our CAMHS psychiatrist will ensure that your child receives compassionate, holistic care. By focusing on both the immediate and long-term well-being of your child, they can offer the support needed to help your family feel confident and hopeful about the future.

They also evaluate the bio-psychosocial factors influencing your child's mental health, integrating biological, psychological, and social elements into the assessment.
2. Treatment Planning
Our Psychiatrist can develop tailored treatment plans based on your childs assessments; prescribing and managing medication, if necessary, and can adjust treatment based on your child’s progress and needs. They can also recommend non-pharmacological interventions, such as psychotherapy, family therapy, or cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), and coordinate their implementation.
3. Transition Support
Assist in the transition from to adult mental health services for adolescents reaching adulthood, ensuring continuity of care. Our Psychiatrist will also provide support for both the young person and their family during this transition period.
4. Family Support
Provide guidance to parents and families, helping them understand their child’s diagnosis and treatment. Our Psychiatrist will Involve parents in treatment plans and offer family therapy or counselling when needed.
5. Specialist in Neurodevelopmental Disorders
Our Psychiatrist can provide expertise in diagnosing and managing neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and ADHD. They can also conduct developmental assessments and implement treatment plans for children with complex neurodevelopmental needs.
6. Crisis Management
They can manage acute mental health crises, including risk assessments for self-harm, suicidal ideation, or severe behavioural issues and provide urgent intervention when needed.
7. Monitoring and Review
Our Psychiatrist can regularly monitor the child’s progress and make adjustments to their treatment plan as needed. They can also conduct follow-up assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment and adjust medication or therapies accordingly.

FAQ
We specialise in a wide range of mental health conditions affecting children and adolescents, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, behavioural issues, eating disorders, and more. We also provide support for emotional difficulties, trauma, and family-related challenges.
While we are dedicated to providing comprehensive support for many mental health conditions, there are certain situations where our private CAMHS service may not be appropriate. We do not provide care for:
- Suicidal thoughts or severe self-harm
- Severe eating disorders with a BMI below 15
- Children currently under the care of a crisis team
- Young people with severe needs that require management within NHS CAMHS services
If your child is experiencing an acute crisis, we encourage you to contact your NHS GP or call NHS 111 for immediate assistance. At Midland Health, your child's safety and well-being are our top priorities.
Medication is only recommended when necessary and is carefully considered alongside other treatments like therapy. We will explain the benefits, risks, and potential side effects, and only proceed if it's the best option for your child.
The assessment typically begins with an in-depth discussion of your child's history and current challenges, followed by psychological evaluations. This allows us to gain a full understanding of your child's needs and determine the best course of treatment. Parents and sometimes teachers are also involved to provide a complete picture.
Every child is different, so the length of treatment varies. Some issues may be resolved with short-term interventions, while others may require longer-term support. We’ll work with you to develop a plan that suits your child’s needs and ensure ongoing reviews of their progress.
We believe that family involvement is crucial for effective treatment. We’ll work closely with you to provide guidance, support, and practical strategies for managing your child’s condition at home. Regular communication and updates are a key part of our approach to ensure your child’s success.
We have translators available for your appointment.
Midland Health has partnered with a highly reputable online pharmacy provider, Cloud Rx to ensure you receive your prescriptions directly to your home address as a next-day service. This way, you can be sure the medicine is available and delivered directly to your home or nominated address. No need for paper prescriptions or to have to go to multiple pharmacies to find the medicine that has been issued by our Midland Health doctors to you.
