At Midland Health Skin, we understand the frustrations of managing unwanted hair on areas like the jawline, upper lip, underarms, bikini area, legs, or stomach using traditional methods, which often provide only short-term results. Our medically led approach ensures a personalised, safe, and effective solution tailored to your needs.
With our state-of-the-art, medical-grade laser hair removal technology, concentrated light energy is converted into heat to target hair follicles beneath the skin's surface. This advanced process slows regrowth, making hair finer and less visible over time, delivering lasting results.
As part of our commitment to your care, patients have the option to meet with a GP before their laser appointment to discuss any skin or medical concerns. For more complex issues, consultations with our dermatology team are available to ensure comprehensive care tailored to your unique skin needs.

Dark colours (your hair follicle) absorb light, which creates heat. Melanin also absorbs light, which is why it’s the body’s natural defence against the sun. The hair shaft contains a high concentration of melanin. When a laser treatment takes place, the melanin absorbs the light and produces heat. This heat damages the hair and the hair follicle in such a way that it inhibits its regrowth. The hair needs to be of natural hair colour. Bleached or coloured hair isn’t acceptable. Hair also must be present in the area for the treatment to be effective. Therefore, waxing, plucking, threading and creams are not advisable for a month prior to and for the duration of the treatment course.
1. Precision: Laser technology targets hair follicles precisely, leaving surrounding skin undamaged.
2. Long-lasting results: Unlike temporary methods like shaving or waxing, laser hair removal provides long-term reduction in hair growth.
3. Time-saving: Eliminates the need for daily or frequent hair removal routines, saving time and hassle.
4. Cost-effective: Over time, laser hair removal can be more cost-effective than continually purchasing shaving supplies or salon waxing sessions.
5. Reduced ingrown hairs: Laser hair removal reduces the occurrence of ingrown hairs, which are common with other hair removal methods.
6. Smoother skin: Helps achieve smoother skin texture by eliminating hair follicles and reducing stubble.
7. Customisable: Can be tailored to target specific areas of the body, catering to individual needs and preferences.
8. Improved confidence: Many individuals experience increased confidence and self-esteem as a result of smoother, hair-free skin.

Laser hair removal is a transformative solution for transgender women seeking to align their physical appearance with their gender identity. For many transgender individuals, unwanted facial or body hair can be a source of dysphoria and discomfort. Laser hair removal offers a safe and effective method to permanently reduce or eliminate hair growth in areas such as the face, chest, arms, and legs, allowing transgender women to feel more confident and comfortable in their bodies.
This non-invasive procedure works by targeting the hair follicles with concentrated light energy, effectively inhibiting future hair growth. With a series of sessions tailored to individual needs, laser hair removal can provide long-lasting results, offering transgender women the opportunity to achieve smoother, more feminine skin and a greater sense of self-affirmation.
Laser hair removal presents a transformative solution for women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), who often experience excessive hair growth due to hormonal imbalances. PCOS can lead to unwanted hair growth in areas such as the face, chest, abdomen, and back, causing distress and affecting self-esteem. Laser hair removal offers a targeted and effective approach to managing this symptom of PCOS by permanently reducing or eliminating unwanted hair.
Unlike temporary methods such as shaving or waxing, laser treatment provides long-lasting results, helping PCOS women achieve smoother, more confident skin. By precisely targeting hair follicles with concentrated light energy, laser hair removal disrupts the hair growth cycle, resulting in progressively finer and sparser hair over time. This non-invasive procedure can significantly improve the quality of life for PCOS women, restoring comfort and self-assurance in their appearance.
What does the treatment feel like?
Treatment sensation varies but you can feel what is described as the ‘hot flick’ of an elastic band during treatment. However, thanks to Dynamic Reflex Technology, most clients describe the discomfort as moderate and tolerable.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions required varies from client to client and is dependent on many factors. Results can be seen after just a few treatments. However, a minimum of 6 and up to 12 treatments, are recommended to deliver the best results.
Who is suitable for treatment?
Most people are suitable for treatment. We recommend a consultation with your clinician to ascertain if the treatment will be successful for you. Grey/white hair has no melanin so is not recommended for treatment.
Is laser hair removal safe for all skin types?
While laser hair removal is generally safe for most skin types, individuals with darker skin tones may be at a higher risk of experiencing pigment changes or skin irritation. It's essential to consult with a qualified practitioner who can determine the most suitable treatment plan based on your skin type and medical history.
Are there any side effects associated with laser hair removal?
Temporary side effects such as redness, swelling, and mild discomfort may occur immediately following treatment, but these typically subside within a few hours to days. More severe side effects are rare but can include blistering, scarring, or changes in skin pigmentation.
How long does each laser hair removal session take?
The duration of each session depends on the size of the treatment area. Small areas like the upper lip or underarms may take just a few minutes, while larger areas such as the legs or back may require 30 minutes to an hour.
Is there any downtime after laser hair removal?
Most can resume their norm al activities immediately after treatment. However, it's essential to avoid sun exposure and to apply sunscreen to treated areas as they may be more sensitive to sunlight.
Can laser hair removal treat all hair colours?
Laser hair removal is most effective on dark, coarse hair because the laser targets the pigment in the hair follicle. Lighter hair colours such as grey, red, or blonde may be more challenging to treat effectively, although advancements in laser technology have made it possible to achieve some degree of hair reduction in these cases.
Is laser hair removal permanent?
Laser hair removal offers long-lasting results, with many individuals experiencing significant hair reduction that lasts for years. However, some hair regrowth may occur over time, typically appearing finer and lighter than before. Periodic maintenance sessions can help sustain optimal results.
