Gynaecology is an area of medicine that focuses on treating medical issues specific to the female reproductive system. No matter what stage of life, every woman will deal with a gynaecological issue at some point or another. While most of these problems are usually nothing to worry about, they should not be taken lightly. If they are not treated properly, this can lead to serious health issues that can impact both your health and personal life.

At Midland Health, we understand that anxiety is not an uncommon feeling for most women when it comes to seeing a gynaecologist. That is why we provide confidential and private gynaecology consultations, allowing you to discuss any concerns with a qualified specialist. We will work with you to design a tailored treatment plan that addresses your concerns and needs.

How Our Specialists Can Help

From our gynaecology consultations, it is possible to investigate and treat a wide range of issues that can impact your reproductive health. We are proud to be able to offer:

During a private gynaecology consultation, you can expect a welcoming and confidential environment where your concerns are addressed with sensitivity and expertise. Upon arrival, you will discuss your medical history and current symptoms with our specialist. Whether you're seeking advice on contraception, fertility issues, menstrual problems, or menopause management, our team is dedicated to providing personalised care tailored to your specific situation.

We understand that discussing gynaecological concerns can be daunting, which is why we strive to create a supportive atmosphere where you feel comfortable expressing your questions and preferences. Our goal is not only to diagnose and treat any medical issues but also to empower you with the knowledge and resources necessary for maintaining your reproductive health and overall well-being.

Irregular vaginal bleeding can signal abnormalities in menstrual health. If you are experiencing bleeding between periods, it is important to get yourself checked out by an experienced gynaecologist at the earliest opportunity. At Midland Health, our medical professionals can diagnose the cause of irregular bleeding, offering advice and treatment for a range of bleeding problems, including heavy periods.

The menopausal transition is something that all women have to navigate at some point in their lives - whether that be due to ageing, premature menopause or even surgically-induced menopause. While menopause is inevitable, our medical professionals can provide treatments to help alleviate symptoms and manage any chronic age-related conditions.

We offer hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to relieve the pain and discomfort associated with menopause. At your first appointment, your specialist will discuss your symptoms and medical history with you to determine whether HRT is an ideal treatment for you and the best route to administer this. We can offer a variety of hormone replacements such as oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone to manage your symptoms effectively. Our experts have years of medical experience in getting the dose right for you to ensure a smooth transition through your menopause and beyond.

Our medical professionals are highly skilled in performing hysteroscopic procedures. A hysteroscopy can be carried out to investigate, diagnose and treat a wide range of gynaecological problems, from irregular bleeding and pelvic pain to fibroids and polyps (non-cancerous growths in the womb). Biopsies can be taken and small polyps can be removed during a hysteroscopy.

During the procedure, a small tube with a light and camera at the end is passed through the vagina and cervix to examine the inside of the womb without the need to make cuts in the skin. We understand that such procedures may sound daunting. But when you choose Midland Health, you can be sure that exceptional patient care is a top priority. We will be with you every step of the way to ensure that the procedure is a success and you are comfortable throughout.

Our gynaecologist consultants are highly experienced in all aspects of coil removal. Whether the IUD string is simply not visible, the coil is too difficult-to-remove or it is stuck in the wall of the uterus, we can perform the right procedure to safely remove your coil. Our expert team will put your mind at ease and guide you through the process.

Midland Health does more than just advise you on your family planning options and send you on your way, our trained medical professionals can also insert a Mirena coil, other progesterone coils or Copper coil to prevent you from getting pregnant. Prior to your private coil fitting, our specialists will take a detailed history including your previous gynaecological history and examine you to see whether there are any infections or structural abnormalities in the female reproductive tract.

Several things can cause irregular bleeding. High among these is premenstrual syndrome (PMS), which occurs as a result of changes to your hormonal levels before your menstrual cycle. We understand that PMS can lead to discomfort, both physical and emotional, but there is no need to suffer in silence. Our specialists can help to alleviate the symptoms of PMS and recommend suitable treatment.

Endometriosis is a condition in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus starts to grow in other areas, such as the fallopian tubes and the ovaries. Sometimes this tissue can also grow outside of these organs and in the pelvic cavity. This tissue breaks down and bleeds as normal. However, as it has no way to exit the body, it can get trapped and cysts can form. In some cases, endometriosis can lead to severe pain. In such cases, it is crucial to arrange a consultation with a qualified gynaecologist. At our private gynaecology clinic in Birmingham, our specialists can diagnose and treat endometriosis, using their extensive knowledge to offer guidance and support from start to finish.

There are a host of different conditions that can cause chronic pelvic pain. That is why it is important to book a consultation with a specialist who has experience diagnosing and treating chronic pelvic pain. Midland Health’s specialists can pinpoint the cause of your discomfort, recommending suitable treatment. In cases where the cause cannot be identified, your specialist will design a personalised treatment plan to help you manage your symptoms.

We can carry out a range of tests to find ovarian cysts, including gynaecology ultrasounds. These tests allow our specialists to investigate the type of cyst, its size, as well as what it is filled with. Although most ovarian cysts are benign, it is crucial to get them checked out by a qualified medical professional to rule out cancer. Such tests are particularly useful for postmenopausal women, as the risk of ovarian cancer increases after menopause. We are able to diagnose and manage more complex conditions such as polycystic ovarian syndrome which may affect your menstrual cycle and chances of fertility.

Our gynaecologist can perform the gynaecology ultrasound and a gynaecology consultation in one extended consultation (45min) as a one stop model, to make the most appropriate plan for your gynaecological problem.

Treatment is not always necessary for fibroids. However, if your symptoms are affecting your everyday activities such as heavy periods, it is important to see a specialist at the earliest opportunity. At Midland Health, we offer a variety of exams and treatment options at our private gynaecology clinic in Birmingham. Our specialists can offer medical advice on the best treatment option to help relieve your symptoms.

Female sterilisation is a permanent method of contraception, which means that you cannot get pregnant in the future. As it is extremely difficult to reverse, it is crucial to consider all your options before deciding to go ahead with sterilisation. Our qualified gynaecology consultants can help you weigh your options and make the right decision for you.

At Midland Health, we believe that your journey into motherhood should be on your own terms, no matter what decisions you make. When it comes to contraception, it is best not to take a one-type-fits-all approach. Our experts will help you navigate the best options for your body, providing a safe space for you to discuss your choices without judgement.

Pelvic organ prolapse occurs when the pelvic floor becomes weakened and can no longer hold the organs firmly in place. This can result in the bladder, womb, bowel or even the top of the vagina bulging. If you are experiencing pain and discomfort as a result or you notice a lump in or around your pelvic area, it is wise to visit a specialist gynaecologist consultant as soon as possible. Depending on the type and severity of the prolapse, your specialist will recommend treatment to alleviate your symptoms. We also have a specialised Women’s Health Physio at Midland Health who can support you with any pelvic symptoms which do not require surgery to strengthen your pelvic floor
