Hearing concerns can affect communication, concentration, learning and overall quality of life. At Midland Health, our private Audiology Clinic in Birmingham provides expert assessment, diagnosis and management of hearing and ear-related conditions in a calm, professional and supportive environment.

Led by Abeer Obed, an experienced Audiologist, our clinic offers comprehensive adult and paediatric audiology services, including diagnostic audiograms and specialist tinnitus therapy. Our focus is on clear explanations, personalised care and timely reassurance for patients of all ages.

Conditions We Can Help With

Our Audiology Clinic provides expert evaluation and guidance for a broad range of hearing and ear-related conditions affecting both adults and children. Whether symptoms are subtle, progressive, or causing daily disruption, a comprehensive audiological assessment can help clarify the cause and inform next steps.

Hearing loss may develop gradually or suddenly and can affect one or both ears. We assess and diagnose all types of hearing loss, including:

  • Conductive hearing loss
  • Sensorineural hearing loss
  • Mixed hearing loss
  • Age-related hearing loss (presbycusis)
  • Noise-induced hearing loss

Following your hearing test, results are explained clearly, and a personalised plan is discussed, including monitoring, referral or treatment options where appropriate.

Tinnitus is the perception of sounds like ringing, buzzing, hissing, or humming in the ears, and its severity can vary significantly among individuals. At our clinic, we offer specialised tinnitus therapy rooted in cognitive behavioural therapy. Our approach emphasises understanding personal triggers, alleviating distress, and enhancing daily coping strategies to improve your quality of life.

We assess a range of symptoms that may affect hearing and auditory processing, including:

  • Reduced or muffled hearing
  • Ear fullness or pressure
  • Sound sensitivity (hyperacusis)
  • Difficulty hearing in noisy environments
  • Hearing problems affecting work, education or social interaction

 Paediatric Audiology Services

Our paediatric audiology services are designed to support children at every stage of development, from early childhood through adolescence. Hearing difficulties in children can influence speech, learning, behaviour and confidence, making timely assessment particularly important.

Paediatric hearing assessments are carried out in a calm, reassuring and child-friendly environment, using age-appropriate testing methods. Each assessment is tailored to the child’s developmental level to ensure accurate and reliable results.

We work closely with parents and carers, taking time to explain findings clearly and answer questions. Where concerns are identified, we provide guidance on next steps, including monitoring, further investigation or referral to other specialists if required.

What to Expect at Your Audiology Appointment

Your appointment is designed to be thorough and focused on your individual concerns.

You will meet with Abeer Obed, who will start by having an in-depth discussion about your symptoms, medical history, and any hearing-related concerns you may have. This will be followed by a series of appropriate hearing tests and any other relevant evaluations.

Results are discussed during your visit, with clear explanations and time to ask questions. Where further management or therapy is recommended, a clear plan is outlined so you know exactly what to expect next.
