Glandular Fever Test

The Paul Bunnell Monospot test is recommended if you are showing signs and symptoms of Glandular fever. Glandular fever is most common in young people aged 15 to 24 and is also known as ‘the kissing disease’. Symptoms include;

• Extreme fatigue
• Swelling around the eyes
• Prolonged fever
• Swollen neck glands
• Sore throat
• Headache

Glandular fever can lead to complications such as chronic fatigue syndrome as well as being highly contagious, so, is helpful to diagnose. Treatment usually involves painkillers and bedrest, however, as opposed to prescribed medication.
