Are you worried about abnormal endometrial (uterine) bleeding? Book a same-week appointment for a gentle, accurate womb cancer test in Birmingham – no GP referral is needed.
It’s not uncommon for peri and post-menopausal women to experience abnormal bleeding. While bleeding isn’t always serious, it can be a sign of cancer. In fact, 90% of postmenopausal women diagnosed with uterine cancer say they experienced vaginal bleeding before their diagnosis.
Going through an ultrasound screening to check for womb cancer can be stressful. But the good news is that WID-easy testing provides a fast, pain-free alternative to an endometrial biopsy. The test works by measuring chemical changes in your DNA from a painless vaginal swab. Your sample is then sent to the lab to identify the presence of cancer cells, giving you clear results within just a few days.
Our uterine cancer screening service is delivered by our female-led gynaecology team at our discreet Birmingham clinic. With our compassionate CQC-registered experts by your side, you can stay ahead of any health issues.
Is This Test Right for You?
If you’re experiencing any of the following symptoms, it’s crucial to get an endometrial cancer test:
- Unexplained or heavy vaginal bleeding
- Bleeding after menopause
- Pelvic pain or discomfort
- Irregular periods
While the risk of endometrial cancer increases with age, especially after menopause, it increases if you have a family history of endometrial or colon cancer. This type of cancer is also associated with obesity, diabetes and hypertension, as well as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The risk is also higher for women taking hormone replacement therapy (HRT) without progesterone and for women who have never been pregnant.
Although not all women with these risk factors will develop endometrial cancer, if you’re experiencing abnormal bleeding, early testing can significantly improve your treatment outcomes.
What is the Wid-Easy Endometrial Test?
Understandably, getting tests for womb cancer can feel daunting, especially when traditional methods like a pipelle biopsy can be painful, require sedation, or even involve a hospital stay.
Wid-Easy is an endometrial biopsy alternative that is pain-free and non-invasive. The process is similar to routine cervical cancer screening (PAP smear). Your clinician will gently take a sample from your vagina and just behind your cervix, and send it to the lab for analysis. There is no need for sedation or hospital admission. The entire process is quick and performed by experienced specialists in the privacy of our private gynaecology clinic in Birmingham.
The WID-easy test works by measuring specific chemical changes in your DNA that can indicate the presence of cancer cells. It is highly accurate, reducing false positives compared to ultrasound scans and helping you avoid unnecessary invasive procedures like hysteroscopy or curettage. This test is also ideal in cases where ultrasound results are difficult to obtain, for example, if you have fibroids. Plus, results arrive within a few days, giving you clarity and peace of mind without delays or repeated testing. Get tested comfortably and quickly in our Birmingham clinic.
What Happens During Your Visit?
Generally, an appointment will last around 30 to 45 minutes and start with a private consultation with one of our experienced gynaecologists. This provides you with the opportunity to discuss your symptoms and any concerns you may have.
The WID-easy sample collection is then performed, and if your clinician thinks it’s necessary, an ultrasound scan may be done to provide a full clinical picture. Once your sample is sent to the lab, you can expect your results within a few days. If any further care or referrals are required, we’ll discuss the next steps with you.
