If you’re struggling with skin conditions such as acne, eczema and psoriasis, our expert dermatologists can provide the advice and treatment you need. They can also carry out procedures such as mole and skin tag removal and are on hand to discuss any skin worries you may have.

They specialise in:

Skin Lesion Removal

Warts, cysts, moles and skin tags are all different types of benign skin lesions that can appear anywhere on your body or face. You may want to remove those for cosmetic or medical reasons. In our dermatology clinic in Birmingham, we offer various skin lesion removal techniques, including excision (cutting out), shave removal, cryotherapy (freezing) and hyfrecation (burning).

Skin Cancer Diagnostics

During your dermatology consultation will check your skin for any visual signs that may indicate skin cancers. If any are found, then a diagnostic procedure called skin biopsy is done. It includes taking a small sample of skin or removing the whole lesion and sending it to the lab for testing. Skin biopsies can also be done to help with a difficult diagnosis or a rash.

Anti-wrinkle treatments and fillers

Reducing the signs of ageing through wrinkle filler injections is a quick and easy procedure offered by our dermatology specialist. Anti-ageing injections (Botox) are mostly performed on the upper face (eyebrows, forehead and crow’s feet lines). Filler injections can be performed anywhere on the face where the skin has lost its volume or to correct an asymmetry in the skin. Dr Kasparis has been training and practising cosmetic procedures since 2011. He is a member of the Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP) and the European Society for Cosmetic and Aesthetic Dermatology (ESCAD).

Acne treatment

Acne is a skin condition that affects adolescents, as well as adults. Despite it being an issue faced by many, we understand that suffering from acne can have a serious impact on a person’s self-esteem. In our private dermatology clinic, we offer a variety of acne treatments, including topical treatments, antibiotics and hormonal therapies, and we always take the time to find the right solution for your skin.

FAQ

Can you see a dermatologist without a referral in the UK?

Yes, you don’t need a referral to see a dermatology specialist. Simply get in touch to book your private dermatology appointment in Birmingham at Midland Health.

What happens at a dermatology consultation (first visit)?

When a dermatology specialist first sees you, they will ask you about your medical history. Every answer is important as certain medications and conditions could have an impact on your skin health. Then, the doctor will examine any specific issues that may have brought you to the clinic. A full-body skin exam check is also part of the standard procedure during a dermatology consultation, as it could reveal skin conditions you may not be aware of.

Do dermatologists check your weight?

Yes, a weight check could be performed as part of the full-body examination on your first dermatologist consultation.

How often should you get a full-body skin exam?

It is recommended that you get a full-body skin examination once a year.

When should you start seeing a dermatologist?

Even if you have no known skin conditions, it is good practice to see a dermatologist annually from the age of 25 years onwards. A preemptive dermatology appointment ensures that sun damage, moles, skin cancer and other potential skin-related issues are diagnosed and treated early on.

What should I wear to a dermatologist appointment?

Although there are no specific clothing requirements for visiting a dermatologist, it is recommended that you wear loose clothing, as it makes performing a full-body skin check easier. A chaperone is always available for skin examinations.
