Can I Have a Covid-19 Vaccine?

It is more likely than not that you can have a COVID-19 vaccine. Children under the age of 18 can receive their vaccination, for children under 12 a smaller dose may be recommended.

Those who are unable to have a vaccine include those (with):

  • Severe Allergic Reactions: People with a history of severe allergic reactions to any component of the vaccine should avoid it.
  • Immunodeficiency: Individuals with severe immunodeficiency disorders may not have a strong immune response to the vaccine.
  • Pregnant and/or Breastfeeding: While most pregnant and breastfeeding individuals can safely receive the vaccine, there are specific guidelines and recommendations.

Should I Consider a Vaccine?

The COVID-19 vaccine is a safe and effective way to protect yourself and your loved ones from the virus. It's particularly important for:

  • Individuals at High Risk: People with underlying health conditions, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals are at a higher risk of severe COVID-19 illness.
  • Healthcare Workers: Frontline healthcare workers are exposed to the virus daily and can benefit from vaccination to protect themselves and their patients.
  • Essential Workers: Individuals in essential industries, such as transportation, retail, and education, play a crucial role in society and can help prevent the spread of COVID-19 by getting vaccinated.
  • Community Members: Everyone in the community can contribute to herd immunity by getting vaccinated, helping to protect those who are unable to be vaccinated or who may have weakened immune systems.

If you're unsure whether you're eligible for the vaccine, consult with your healthcare provider. They can assess your individual situation and provide personalised recommendations.

Why We Trust Pfizer

The Pfizer vaccine is highly effective in preventing severe COVID-19 illness, hospitalisation, and death. The most important factor is to get vaccinated and protect yourself.

During the pandemic, different variations of the coronavirus vaccination were circulated, and many of us were familiar with both Pfizer and Moderna at the time. Now, however, private clinics and medical professionals have the opportunity to choose their preferences.

While both vaccines underwent rigorous testing, some studies may have shown minor variations in efficacy or side effects between the two, with the Pfizer vaccine and booster having fewer side effects and adverse reactions when compared to Moderna

For our clinic, this vaccine also provides a more flexible storage temperature, making it easier to distribute and a different recommended dosage which allows for efficient use.
