A certified member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (certMRCSLT), she is also affiliated with ASLTIP, the British Laryngological Association (BLA), and is a registered Vocal Rehabilitation Specialist with the British Association of Performing Arts Medicine (BAPAM).

Carrie’s advanced clinical skills span a wide range of conditions, including functional and organic voice disorders, benign vocal fold lesions, laryngeal movement disorders, and upper airway dysfunctions such as inducible laryngeal obstruction. She also specialises in vocal health for professional voice users and provides pre- and post-operative voice rehabilitation.

Her holistic therapy approach combines voice, breath, and body-based exercises with laryngeal manual therapy, relaxation techniques, and psychological strategies. With a deep understanding of the physical and emotional aspects of vocal health, Carrie delivers evidence-based, patient-centred care that helps individuals regain vocal confidence and long-term resilience.

What to Expect from a Consultation

During your first consultation, Carrie will conduct a comprehensive assessment to understand your needs, history, and therapy goals. You can expect a warm, professional, and non-judgmental environment, where you'll be guided through the process step-by-step. Based on your assessment, we will create a personalised therapy plan to help you move forward.

Assessment and Therapy Progression

The initial assessment involves a detailed evaluation of voice, including perceptual, acoustic, and, where appropriate, laryngeal assessments. This also includes a thorough case history to explore vocal use, onset and pattern of symptoms, contributing medical or psychosocial factors, and impact on daily function. From there, we will develop a treatment plan designed to meet your needs. Therapy progression is monitored regularly to ensure that goals are being met and adjustments are made as necessary.

FAQ

Absolutely. Speech therapy is effective for adults, regardless of age or the nature of the difficulty. In fact, therapy can be incredibly beneficial even later in life, whether you’re dealing with a long-term Voice or Upper Airway condition or facing a new challenge like sudden voice change or vocal injury. With the right approach, you can see meaningful improvements in communication and overall quality of life.

It’s a common misconception, but speech therapy is just as important for adults. Many conditions that affect voice, speech and communication don’t have an age limit. Whether you're experiencing voice problems, managing a neurological condition like Parkinson's, or experiencing a speech impediment like stammering, therapy can help. It’s not about age, it’s about improving your ability to communicate effectively and live comfortably.

The duration of therapy depends on your specific needs and goals. During your first session, we’ll assess your current abilities, challenges, and what you want to achieve. From there, we’ll work with you to create a tailored plan. While some clients may see improvement in a few sessions, others may need longer-term support. The good news is that we’ll work together at a pace that suits you. Plus, we’ll review your progress regularly and adjust your plan as needed.

It’s completely normal to feel a little anxious about starting therapy. But we want to reassure you that we create a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment. Carrie is experienced, understanding, and passionate about helping clients feel comfortable and supported. You’ll never feel rushed, and we’ll take the time to get to know you and your unique needs. Therapy should feel empowering, not intimidating.

We understand that therapy can be an investment, and we are committed to transparency. Our pricing is clear, with no hidden costs: £225 for your first consultation. During your initial consultation, we’ll discuss your needs, goals, and therapy duration to provide you with an accurate price estimate for follow-up consultations. We also offer different therapy options to suit various budgets, and we’re happy to help you find a solution that works for you.

We offer flexible therapy options to make sure you get the support you need. If attending the clinic isn’t an option for you, we can arrange home visits or may be able to provide virtual consultations. This way, you can receive therapy from the comfort of your home, no matter where you are.

No problem at all. The purpose of the initial consultation is to explore your current challenges and talk about your goals, whether they are specific, like improving voice quality, vocal stamina, or speech clarity, or more general, like feeling more confident in social situations. Together, we’ll clarify what success looks like for you and how we can get there. And we’ll be with you every step of the way, providing guidance and support.

Every person is unique, and we offer a variety of evidence-based therapy approaches tailored to your needs. Through using a thorough client-centered approach to assessment, Carrie will discuss the right methods with you to address your specific condition and goals. You’ll never be left in the dark, we’ll explain everything to you and ensure you’re comfortable with the approach we take.

We’re committed to your success and to providing the highest standard of care. If you ever feel that therapy isn’t working for you, we’ll listen to your concerns and adjust our approach. It’s important to remember that progress can be gradual, and improvement often takes time, especially with complex conditions. That said, we work with you to ensure that you feel encouraged and supported throughout your therapy journey.

No, you don’t need a referral. You can simply get in touch with us directly to book an appointment. If you’re already under the care of another healthcare provider, we can also work with them to ensure you receive the most comprehensive care possible.

Not at all. Speech therapy can be beneficial at any age, whether you're in your 30s, 60s, or beyond. Adults can see real improvements in communication abilities, even later in life.

Yes, adults can receive speech therapy via the NHS. However, wait times can be long. Our private clinic offers faster appointments and personalised support tailored to your specific needs. Should you switch between the NHS and private, we maintain close relations with NHS departments to help support you with a continuity of care.

Speech and language therapists work with adults facing communication challenges like speech difficulties and voice disorders. Each therapy plan is customised to support your individual goals and concerns.
