illumiFacial® Skin Rejuvenation IPL Treatment

Home > illumiFacial® Skin Rejuvenation IPL Treatment

The revitalizing illumiFacial® is the next generation of the highly successful ‘photofacial’ treatment. The treatment combines a unique combination of Lynton skincare with our medical-grade skin rejuvenation IPL Laser. The illumiFacial® is designed to illuminate, rejuvenate, and nourish the skin. This then results in a flawless, younger-looking appearance from your first initial treatment!

How does the illumiFacial® work?

A tri-fruit acid peel is applied prior to the laser to help dislodge the debris of dead skin cells on the surface of the skin, allowing the light from the IPL laser to penetrate further and stimulate faster cell turnover. The IPL laser then can penetrate the skin further, stimulating a quicker cell turnover. The laser causes the skin to heat up, causing a very mild reversable thermal damage. The skin can then act to repair this by increasing the rate of collagen and elastin production deep within the dermis. This increases the skin’s elasticity and strength, making the skin look softer and smoother. The IPL can follow to ‘spot treat’ individual areas of broken thread vessels and pigmentation.

What happens during an illumiFacial® treatment at Midland Health Skin?

1.Consultation

Your clinician will begin your appointment by discussing your medical history, current skincare you use, any additional concerns surrounding your skin and the treatment. At this point, we will need to know of any medication you are taking including those bought from a chemist or herbalist

2.Cleanse

The first step in achieving clear, healthy, radiant skin will involve a deep cleanse with our clinician using a specialist formulation to remove any impurities.

3.Tri-Fruit Acid Peel

Following a deep cleanse, a unique Tri-Fruit Acid Lynton Fruit Peel will be applied across your face. This will be on your skin for anywhere between 3 to 10 minutes. This peel resurfaces skin texture and decongests the pores, priming the skin ready for stage 4 of the illumiFacial®.

4.Lynton IPL

Post fruit peel, your skin will be at its optimum condition for the application of the award winning Lynton Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment. This works by both stimulating collagen and targeting any discolouration on your skin, e.g: freckles, pigmentation, vascular breakouts, general redness. In most cases, the results are instant, providing you with dramatically clearer, firmer skin.

5.Hydrate and Protect

To help maximise the results of your illumiFacial® treatment, a trio of specialist serums will be applied to your skin post-IPL, helping soothe, regenerate and protect your skin.

6.Post Appointment

After your treatment our expert clinician will discuss an in-depth treatment plan tailored to your individual skin needs. Our clinician will recommend the next appropriate date to book in for your treatment to maintain effectiveness.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the minimum age for IPL/laser treatment

We will not treat under 18’s and recommend that those under the age of 20 should have a parent or guardian present.

I have botox/filler/Thread lift. Can you treat the area with a laser?

Our clinicians recommend that you wait 2 weeks after botox or hylaronic acid injectable fillers before being treated with a laser. We will not carry out any treatment over any injectable product that is considered to be semi-permanent or permanent. If you have had a thread lift, our clinicians advise to wait 6 months before being treated with a laser.

How long is illumiFacial® recovery?

Recovery time for this treatment is 24 hours.

How many illumiFacial® treatments do you recommend?

For the best results our clinicians recommend 2-4 treatments. Whilst it differs from person to person, you will start to notice results after your first initial treatment.

Am I suitable for the illumiFacial®?

This treatment is perfect for anyone whose skin exhibits congestion, discolouration and visible signs of ageing, however, a full consultation is carried out prior to treatment to ascertain your suitability and individual treatment needs. A full treatment plan will then be tailored to treat your specific concerns, all aiming to improve the appearance, feel and health of your skin.

What should I expect after illumiFacial®?

You may experience a superficial tingling feeling on the skin and you may see a darkening of pigment spots before they flake away - this means the treatment has worked perfectly in providing you with a more even, flawless skin tone. As well as clearer, healthier skin, you will also experience an ongoing improvement to the firmness and plumpness of your skin in the following months post-treatment, as new collagen is stimulated deep within the skin tissue.

How does the treatment feel?

The illumiFacial® is a very quick, comfortable treatment which is designed to provide you with ‘optimum skin health’. Some people will feel a slight tingling sensation when the fruit peel is first applied, but it very quickly subsides. The IPL aspect of this treatment can sometimes be mildly uncomfortable - most people describe the discomfort as feeling like a ‘quick pinprick’ and ‘warm feeling’, which is very tolerable.

Are there any side effects?

The illumiFacial® is a completely non-invasive treatment, using safe, medical-grade equipment to minimise side effects. Your skin may be red and slightly swollen immediately after treatment, but this will subside very quickly. You may also have some patches of dry skin and in very rare cases, a small blister can form with some temporary lightening or darkening of the skin. However, most people experience absolutely no side effects and any reactions usually disappear within a few hours, leaving the skin feeling and looking radiant.

What should I do prior to my treatment?

Before your illumiFacial® it's best advised that you avoid UV exposure for 4 weeks prior to your treatment. No false tan should be applied on the face prior to the treatment and there should be no use of retinols and acids 2 weeks of either side of your illumiFacial®.
