Dr Tom Dawson MBBS, MRCPCH, MSc
Consultant Paediatrician with Specialist Interest in Allergy
Dr Tom Dawson has a specialist interest in paediatric allergy and immunology. He trained at University College London and, following graduation, worked in Manchester and London before completing hospital rotations across the Midlands.
During his early career, Dr Dawson held a clinical research fellowship with the Oxford Vaccine Group, where he worked on the MenB vaccine, alongside research into Toxic Shock Syndrome. He later completed his specialist paediatric training in Birmingham, where he developed a strong interest in infection and allergy.
Dr Dawson holds an MSc in Allergy from Imperial College London and has contributed to academic research through peer-reviewed journal articles, conference posters and presentations at local, national and international meetings. He remains actively involved in research and is the hospital’s lead paediatric researcher, with ongoing links to the University of Worcester.
He is Chair of the Midlands Paediatric Allergy Group, a member of the BRIT Committee (a national immunotherapy outcomes registry), and is actively involved with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and the British Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology Standards Group, helping to shape national standards for paediatric allergy services across the UK.
Dr Rakhee Thaker
General Practitioner with Specialist Interest in Allergy
Dr Rakhee Thaker is a General Practitioner with a specialist interest in allergy. She graduated from Birmingham Medical School and completed training in general medicine before entering general practice. She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Allergy from Imperial College London which is a global centre of excellence in Allergy education education and research.
In clinical practice she provides comprehensive allergy assessment, including detailed history-taking, skin prick testing, specific IgE interpretation and provocation testing where appropriate. She diagnoses and manages a wide range of allergic conditions such as food allergy, drug allergy, allergic rhinitis, atopic eczema, asthma and venom allergy, and she assesses suitability for and delivers sublingual allergen immunotherapy with careful monitoring and follow-up.
She is active in clinical audit and service development to improve allergy pathways within primary care and enhance patient access to specialist assessment. She collaborates with multidisciplinary teams at the regional centre of excellence to develop and implement evidence-based pathways, participates in research projects and keeps up to date with advances in allergy diagnosis and management so that new evidence can be translated into practice.
She regularly provides education and training for primary care colleagues and practice staff on allergy recognition, emergency management of anaphylaxis and safe prescribing. Committed to patient education and shared decision-making, she supports patients to self-manage their conditions effectively. She is known for a patient-centred approach, clear communication and a compassionate, pragmatic style of care.

Dr Atanu Mukherjee is a Consultant Paediatrician with a specialist interest in Respiratory Medicine and Allergy. He has been practising as an NHS Consultant Paediatrician since 2015, with more than 10 years of experience caring for children and young people with a wide range of acute and long-term health conditions. Alongside his NHS role, he is now beginning his first private practice.
His clinical expertise spans general paediatrics, paediatric respiratory medicine, and paediatric allergy.
