At Midland Health, you can book a private appointment with one of our GPs and discuss your chickenpox vaccine option. Chicken Pox is a vaccination using the varicella vaccine. This is not routinely offered on the NHS but can be requested privately. Chicken pox in any family can be a difficult time and may result in time taken off work for the parent. The vaccine is appropriate for children aged 12-15 months; with a second dose 4-6 weeks after the first. Recommended for those who have compromised immunity or those who come into contact with vulnerable people; the varicella vaccine is appropriate for pregnant women, those who have weakened immune systems e.g. with a diagnosis of HIV, and healthcare staff.
