If the size or shape of your labia causes you discomfort, or you feel self-conscious about how they look, it may be something you have wanted to talk about for a while. It can be hard to raise; we offer a calm, private place to discuss this intimate surgery.
Our labiaplasty service begins with a consultation with Miss Sameena Hassan, a consultant plastic surgeon. Labiaplasty is surgery to reshape or reduce the labia. This surgery can be used to address the labia majora or the labia minora, as well as the clitoral hood.
You might come for a consultation for labiaplasty for different reasons, such as:
An appointment gives you the space to ask questions and hear whether surgery may suit you. If you choose to proceed, we will also plan the surgery during this appointment. You are welcome to come with questions and no decision made.
The most suitable option depends on your anatomy, your concerns, and what you hope to change. After an examination, Miss Hassan will explain the approach that may fit you, and you will have time to explain what bothers you in your own words.
Surgery may help reduce physical discomfort and may change how the labia look. You will also receive a complimentary follow-up appointment to check healing is progressing as expected.

| Available during October and November for labiaplasty. Any treatment or procedure will be charged separately. Any investigations or treatment recommended during your consultation may involve additional costs, which we will discuss with you clearly before anything is arranged. |
Your first step is a consultation. You will not be asked to decide anything at that appointment.
If surgery may suit you, Miss Hassan will explain your options, what each involves, the risks that apply to you, and the cost. If you choose to go ahead, we will agree a date with you and give you written information on how to prepare. After surgery, we will arrange follow-up so we can check how you are healing and answer your questions.
Miss Sameena Hassan has been a consultant plastic surgeon on the GMC specialist register since 2021. With a BSc (Hons), MBChB, FRCS (Plast) and a postgraduate qualification in medical education, she combines advanced surgical expertise with a strong commitment to patient care.
She is a member of BAPRAS, BAAPS, BAHNO and UKAAPS, reflecting her standing in the profession. Her philosophy is simple: to deliver safe, natural results through open communication and a holistic approach, helping patients feel informed and confident throughout their journey.

This service may suit you if you are 18 or over and physical discomfort or concerns about your appearance have led you to think about labiaplasty. You do not need to be sure. The consultation is where you can work that out with a surgeon.
If you are mainly experiencing pain, soreness, itching, or discharge, an appointment with our gynaecology team may be the better first step, so a doctor can look for any treatable cause before you consider surgery.
You will meet your consultant in a private consultation room. She will ask what has brought you in, how long it has been a concern, how it affects your day, and what you hope to change. She will also ask about your general health and any medicines you take.
With your agreement, she may examine you. She will explain what she is doing before she starts, and you can pause or stop at any point.
Your consultant will then talk through your options in plain language. This may include what surgery involves, where it would take place, the type of anaesthetic, the recovery period, the possible risks, and the cost. You will leave with a clear summary and time to think.
If you have surgery, Miss Hassan will arrange follow-up appointments to check how you are healing.
If you have a question between appointments, you can contact our team on 0121 769 0999. If you have heavy bleeding, severe pain, or a high temperature after surgery, seek urgent medical advice.

Will I definitely be offered surgery?
Not necessarily. Whether labiaplasty is suitable depends on your anatomy, your health, and your goals, and Miss Hassan will talk this through with you at your consultation. Some people decide surgery is not for them, and that is a reasonable result of a consultation.
Who might surgery not be suitable for?
Some health conditions or medicines may mean surgery is not suitable, or needs to wait. Miss Hassan will review your medical history with you before any procedure is arranged. If you have bleeding, a sore that does not heal, or a lump in the genital area, please see a doctor to have it checked first.
What are the possible risks?
As with any surgery, risks can include bleeding, infection, scarring, changes in sensation, uneven healing, and a reaction to anaesthetic. Miss Hassan will explain the risks that apply to you before you decide whether to go ahead.
Will labiaplasty affect sensation?
A change in sensation is one of the possible risks of labiaplasty. Miss Hassan will explain this to you in your consultation.
How long does recovery take?
Recovery varies from person to person. Miss Hassan will give you personal guidance on time off work, exercise, and intimacy, and we will give you written aftercare information.
Can labiaplasty be combined with clitoral hood reduction?
Yes, it is one of the options we offer. Miss Hassan will talk through whether it may suit you after she has examined you.
