What is PSA Testing?

When the prostate is damaged, the prostate produces a protein called PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen). A PSA test allows us to detect abnormal or raised PSA levels in your blood. High readings could be an indicator of prostate cancer, however, they could also be caused by non-life-threatening conditions, such as an enlarged prostate or a urinary infection.
